When?
Stage 3 will be undertaken in two parts – stages 3a and 3b.
Stage 3a began in November 2023 and finished in June 2024. Construction for stage 3b is scheduled to begin in March 2025 and will take approximately 14-months to complete.
Overview
Stage 3a)
Replaced approximately 170m of pipeline from under the Caltex truck stop and the old rail crossing on Seaview Road.
Stage 3b)
Stage 3b will install a new pipeline between the valve station on Seaview Road and the Hutt City Terminal on Port Road. The pipeline will be predominantly buried in road reserve and will follow the route shown below.
Brian Perry Civil have been appointed as the head contractor to undertake this work and will commence site establishment in March 2025.
What impact will Stage 3 have on the community?
Stage 3b)
The main impact the community will see is the use of temporary traffic management in the vicinity of the works. This will include the temporary removal of carparks to facilitate the burial of the pipeline in the road shoulder. Traffic management will include the use of both two-way and one-way traffic flows as well as a full road closure at the end of Port Rd (near the intersection with Marine Dr). Electronic signage boards will be located to warn people of the road closure along with detour signs. The closure will likely commence in April 2025 and will be in place for up to 8-weeks.
Our Project Manager (Brent Cooper of Mettleworks) and our contractor (Brian Perry Civil) will engage with the relevant businesses and neighbours ahead of any works that may impact them, and we will work proactively to minimise the disruption these works will cause.
